There are many online business owners who have Google Analytics setup on their website. There are many online business owners who never look at their Google Analytics reports.
There are also many online business owners who look at their Google Analytics reports and say “that’s nice”.
Very few online business owners gather insights from Google Analytics, identify hypotheses about what they see and then take actions to make improvements in their business results.
Implementing a data measurement system is the easy part.
Performing analysis on the data and presenting it in a way that insights can be taken is a little harder.
Interpreting the data, making decisions and taking actions based on those insights is where most online business owners fall down. They just don’t do it…yet, it’s the entire purpose of collecting data.
You can’t improve what you don’t measure.
But to make improvements you have to analyse, gain insights, make decisions and take actions.
In any business process, it’s never right the first time. If you just put your system together and never take the time to make measurable improvements then you’ll never succeed online.
